Browlift

A brow lift, also known as a forehead lift: Reduces the wrinkle lines that develop horizontally across the forehead, as well as those that occur on the bridge of the nose, between the eyes. Improves frown lines, the vertical creases that develop between the eyebrows.

WHAT DOES IT TRY TO ACCOMPLISH

> Smooths forehead wrinkles and lifts the eyebrows to more youthful positions.

HOW IS IT DONE

> Incision across the top of the head from ear to ear behind the hairline and the forehead skin is lifted upwards. Just for brow lift three small cuts in the hairline.

HOW LONG DOES THE OPERATION TAKE

> About 1 hour.

HOW LONG IS THE STAY IN THE CLINIC

> 1 or 2 nights.

TYPE OF STITCHES

> Large silk stitches in the scalp.

HOW LONG ARE THEY LEFT IN

> 2 weeks.

> Frown lines above the nose can sometimes recur quickly, but it has a lasting effect on the transverse forehead lines.

COMMON COMPLICATIONS

> Early: Occasional bruising and swelling. Sometimes hair loss in front of the scar. Numbness at the top of the head. Late: In people with thin hair growth the scar may be more visible. Your surgeon must be properly qualified to do the operation and he will advise you what can and what cannot be achieved in your case. Do take that advice.
